The Supplication for Monday
1
In the Name of ALLAH, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
1
2
Praise belongs to ALLAH,
2
3
who allowed none to witness when He created the heavens and the earth,
3
4
and who took no helper when He authored the spirits!
4
5
He has no associate in Divinity
5
6
and no support in Unity.
6
7
Tongues fall silent before the limit of describing Him,
7
8
intellects fail before the core of knowing Him,
8
9
tyrants fall low in awe of Him,
9
10
faces are humbled in fear of Him,
10
11
and everything mighty yields to His mightiness!
11
12
So to Thee belongs praise, again and again, well-measured, continually, methodically!
12
13
and may His blessings be upon His Messenger endlessly,
13
14
and His salutation everlastingly, eternally!
14
15
O ALLAH, make
15
16
the beginning of this day of mine righteousness,
16
17
its middle prosperity,
17
18
and its end success!.
18
19
I seek refuge in Thee from a day
19
20
whose beginning is fright,
20
21
whose middle is anxiety,
21
22
and whose end is pain!
22
23
O ALLAH, I pray forgiveness from Thee for
23
24
every vow I have vowed,
24
25
every promise I have promised,
25
26
and every pledge I have pledged
26
27
and then failed to keep for Thee
27
28
I ask Thee concerning the complaints of Thy servants against me:
28
29
If there is a servant from among Thy servants or a handmaid from among Thy handmaids, who has against me a complaint
29
30
because I have wronged him in respect to himself, his reputation, his property, his wife or his child, or because
30
31
evil words I have spoken about him in his absence,
31
32
an imposition upon him through inclination, caprice, scorn, zeal, false show, bigotry,
32
33
whether he be absent or present,
33
34
alive or dead,
34
35
such that my hand has fallen short and my capacity has been too narrow to make restitution to him or to annul my obligation to him,
35
36
I ask Thee, O He who owns all objects of need—which are granted by His will and hasten to His desire—that
36
37
Thou blessest MUHAMMAD and the Household of MUHAMMAD,
37
38
makest [the one I have wronged] satisfied with me in the manner that Thou willest,
38
39
givest me mercy from Thee!
39
40
Forgiveness decreases Thee not
40
41
and giving injures Thee not,
41
42
O Most Merciful of the merciful!
42
43
O ALLAH, give me on every Monday two favours from Thee:
43
44
the felicity to obey Thee at its beginning
44
45
and the favour of Thy forgiveness at its end!
45
46
O He who is ALLAH
46
47
and none other than whom grants forgiveness for sins!
47
